The movement towards simplicity and disappearing IT support jobs

I frequently read Jason Hiner’s comments on his Tech Replublic blog and find them thought provoking. In today’s post, “The new reality: Technology must be self-evident“, he asserts that the inertia toward product simplicity brought on by the likes of the iPad and Google Docs will eventually lead to less demand for IT support professionals who make their living sorting out all that technology. I think there is something to be said for that, but I cannot see too many companies saying no to feature creep, especially companies on the end-user side.
