I really enjoyed Paul Glen’s column in this week’s (12/20) edition of ComputerWorld: “The pen is mightier than the code“. Here he espouses mastering the art of the written word.
That’s right: Mastering a 5,000-year-old skill offers the best prospects for remaining relevant in the 21st-century job market. Whether you are an executive, project manager or hard-core technologist, writing is the key to your future.
It will be extremely difficult to succeed in corporate management, consulting, or any technical lead position without the competency to communicate in writing. Yet it appears to be valued so little by so many.
