IDG Outsourcing Survey

IDG published a survey of approximately 1200 IT and business executives regarding outsourcing. According to the commentary in CIO, the survey found the three biggest drivers were access to skills unavailable in the existing staff (52 percent), cost reduction (50 percent), and managing the peaks and valleys of staffing requirements (44 percent). Network World cited survey results stating the areas of web hosting, email, desktop, and network management, and DR as the most commonly outsourced. The survey also found that the respondents’ opinions on the success of their outsourcing strategies were decidedly mixed.
