Yesterday Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid tweeted “In light of recent events, I have decided to postpone Tuesday’s vote on the PROTECT IP Act” after protests Wednesday by Internet heavyweights such as Wikipedia, Google, Craigslist and The IT Manager  . Rep Lamar Smith expressed even stronger sentiments for shelving SOPA.

The SopaStike.com website announced:

Victory! January 18th, 2012 was the largest online protest in history to stop the internet censorship bills, SOPA & PIPA. On January 20th, Congress shelved the bills indefinitely. If they return, we must be ready.
