I have always felt beholden to the QA people, but I have never realized how much I depend on them until they were gone. IT managers, particularly operations, infrastructure, and support managers, need to really bond with and take care of the testers.
Testing software is a science. It’s not randomly clicking through a few pages and saying it “looks good”. True QA people having training and methodology.
Life in Opts without the QA team is a living hell. Every problem is now considered something in the environment and infrastructure. It has to be, right, because that part of the code wasn’t changed. Never mind that each deploy results in 1-2 emergency deploys shortly thereafter.
QA is not a luxury – it is a critical function!
